For the price ($17) a very tasty wine but a better buy might be its stable mate the Cab Franc. It’s a clear, bright, medium depth ruby-violet colored wine. There doesn’t seem to be much in the nose department, but there is plenty of berry notes on the palette. There’s some low acidity, moderate tannins, an OK balance and a medium finish. Better for dinner than sipping on the back patio. Grade: B Price: $10 Messina Hof Barrel Reserve |
