Avalon 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon California

A good, sturdy drinkable Cab at a reasonable price. What more could you ask for?

It's a clear, bright, deep violet to purple colored wine with not a lot of structure to it. There is some rather intense berry notes for both your nose and palette, (think blackberry, raspberry here.) Sweetness is not it's first characteristic here, but rather a drying astringency with a lively acidity giving this wine a good balance and medium finish. Any tannins are of a muted, rounded variety to my taste buds. Good for dinner and if you like Cabs, good for sipping too as the astringency will linger for a while. Perhaps a good representation of what a Cab should taste like, at least to me!
