Barossa Valley 2006 Shiraz Lot 147

A tasty Shiraz if a bit pricey. But for it's price a very good Shiraz, and a worthy representative of its type and another World Market wine.

A clear, bright (read unclouded), purple wine with a light structure to it. Clearly, some lovely berry notes for your nose and similar berry notes for your palate as well as a moderate spicy note as well as well as a certain astringency for this wine, (in a good way) with good balance and a moderate to long finish thanks to its astringency. A much better sipping wine than a dinner wine. Its dryness lingers for a time on your palate.

[OK, some nice platitudes about where the winery is, a nice description about how the winery was named, and a bit more about the how the wine was made. The salient parts have to do with gentle pressing and and some reasonable time in French and American oak for 14 months. With a nice request to drink in moderation. Good luck with that. ]
