I tried this wine in it's 2005 incarnation. Apparently, to my happy surprise, nothing much has changed. It's still a pretty darn good tasty Zin. In 2005 I recommended it breath for 15 minutes, or use an aerator, which still goes today. And the best news? It seems to be cheaper! It's a clear, bright ruby colored wine with a medium depth and some structure. There are some nice berry notes (Raspberry? Blackberry? I'm never really sure) here, both with your nose and tongue with perhaps some spicy notes underneath. It's got a nice balance and good finish, with low acidity and tannins. My only quibble with the wine is that it seems to be a bit thin. It's a wine more for sipping than dinner, but with the right dinner, it could work there too. Cline |
