Overall, a likable Merlot. But a more likable wine might be: Grove Ridge 2007, Rutherford 2003, Paul Valmer (360 Everyday) 2007. The last one is only available at Whole Foods.

It's a clear, bright, medium depth ruby colored wine with some structure to it. There are some faint berry notes for the nose, with some more substantial ones for your palette. There is some acidity and moderate to light astringency with this wine as well as an OK balance and short to medium finish. Overall, mostly a sipping wine, but with the right light dinner, perhaps a dinner wine too.
