A good effort, but for the money perhaps you might try the Ironstone Old Vine Zinfandel (2008) or Zinfatuation (2005), a World Market exclusive. Both are about $10. It's a clear, bright, ruby-violet colored wine with medium depth and some structure. Some decidedly berry notes are found here both for your nose and palette along with some moderate dryness, and low or well rounded tannins too. This gives the wine a medium to long finish and good balance. However, it's a better light dinner wine than a sipping wine I think. Simi |
