A cute play on words, but perhaps the best damn single glass aeration device I've found so far. It's a futuristic clear plastic device (Lucite, perhaps?) with a black band to allow the user to effectively hold the device. It uses the venturi principle to mix wine and air creating a lovely gurgling sound to let you know you wine is getting mixed -- a lot. How mixed? I tried the "soap bubble" test for this device. The test consists of pouring an amount of water (with some dish detergent mixed in) to see how much foam or bubbles got created. As it turns out quite a lot! Perhaps it's biggest drawback is the fact that it's a two handed operation to use this device. It can also be used with a decanter, but as you are passing the whole bottle through, it will take a while. The package consists of the Vinturi, a black pouch, and a stand, (important as the unit can drip). There is a well in the stand to catch these drips. But that is a minor quibble. It might make a nice gift for the wino, er.. wine aficionado on your Christmas list. |
