World Market 2006 Merlot California

Not the first or second bottle you might serve, but it might work for the third....

A clear, bright, light ruby-violet colored wine with a bit o' structure to it. There are some faint berry notes here for you nose and some for your palette as well. It has a decidedly "wet" taste (too little astringency) with low tannins, a plus. What's not here is much intensity. This yields an OK balance if a short finish. It really doesn't work for either a sipping or dinner wine. Good perhaps for the 2nd or 3rd bottle you'll serve, but not the first. Overall a respectable wine for the price. A World Market exclusive, of course.

Really pretty deep ruby red color. Oddly, she will enjoy this much more than you. Its' not much of a guy wine as it's a little too sweet and somewhat bland. Well worth $5. But Bacchus is correct, the Grove Ridge Merlot is better and at the same price. My grade: C+ .
